Installing enlightenment (e17) on your desktop

Date: 29-Nov-2013

This post is for people using desktops. This solution might work on laptops or it might not work on your laptop (i mean give decent performance and battery life). The whole point is to have a simpler solution that doesn’t use as much resources as the other window managers. It does need getting used to though.

You will need to configure the key bindings. The default bindings don’t work. Ctrl+Alt+t wont open any terminal.

It also needs an internet connection, quite naturally. Just open the terminal and copy and paste this there in the same sequence.

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:efl/trunk
$ sudo apt-get update update
$ sudo apt-get install e17

This should be convenient and easy to follow. Unless of-course there is something wrong with the actual file this is unlikely. Please note we cannot be held responsible for loss of and damage to data and system. Please follow these instructions if you have a basic idea of what it is you want to achieve.
